Stink Bugs
Overview
Brown marmorated stink bugs invade homes throughout Westchester, Rockland, and Bergen County each fall, seeking warmth as temperatures drop. Once inside, they overwinter in wall voids and attic spaces until spring.
Warning Signs
- Shield-shaped, grayish-brown bugs on windows or walls in fall
- Strong, unpleasant odor when bugs are disturbed or crushed
- Large numbers gathering on sunny exterior walls in autumn
- Bugs emerging from walls and ceilings in late winter or spring
Health & Property Risks
Stink bugs do not bite or cause structural damage, but they emit a foul odor when crushed. Large infestations inside walls are difficult to eliminate without professional treatment.
How We Treat It
Exterior perimeter treatments in late summer and fall prevent stink bugs from entering. We also seal gaps around windows, doors, and utility penetrations to block entry points.
