Wasps & Hornets
Overview
Yellow jackets, bald-faced hornets, and paper wasps are common stinging pests throughout Westchester, Rockland, Bergen County, and The Bronx. They become especially aggressive in late summer and fall when defending their nests.
Warning Signs
- Papery gray nest in eaves, overhangs, or shrubs
- Increased wasp activity near a single outdoor area
- Wasps entering or exiting wall voids
- Underground nest entrances in lawn or mulch
Health & Property Risks
Wasp and hornet stings are painful and can trigger severe allergic reactions. Yellow jackets are particularly aggressive near food and disturbed nests.
