Concourse & Grand Concourse Pest Control

The Grand Concourse stretches nearly four miles through the center of the Bronx, flanked by some of the most architecturally significant apartment buildings in New York City. Buildings along the Concourse between East 149th Street and East 183rd Street were constructed primarily in the 1920s and 1930s in the Art Deco style, with original terrazzo lobbies, steam heating systems, and plaster walls that provide significant pest harborage in their aging interiors. German cockroaches and mice are endemic to many of these buildings, exploiting aging utility penetrations and poorly maintained basement areas.

The area surrounding Yankee Stadium — particularly the blocks along River Avenue, 161st Street, and the Major Deegan Expressway service road — generates substantial food waste and sustains large rat populations. These rodents migrate north along the Concourse into residential buildings, particularly during construction disruptions near the stadium. Termites pose a meaningful risk in buildings with original wood trim, flooring, and structural elements, especially those where basement waterproofing has failed. Bed bugs are a persistent concern throughout the Grand Concourse's large apartment buildings, where high occupancy and tenant turnover facilitate spread. Ants emerge in ground-floor and garden units each spring.
