Stink bug pressure in Thiells is substantial from late August through October, as the dense forested backdrop provides summer habitat that pushes insects toward buildings as temperatures cool. Homeowners near the park boundary report among the heaviest stink bug infiltration in Rockland County annually. Wildlife — including raccoons, white-tailed deer, opossums, groundhogs, and the occasional fox — are constant presences in Thiells's larger-lot neighborhoods. Squirrels and raccoons regularly attempt attic access in spring. Mice move indoors from wooded lot edges each fall, exploiting the many entry points in the aging housing stock along Route 202 and Rosman Road. Mosquitoes breed in low-lying areas and drainage swales throughout the hamlet during summer.
