Subterranean termite activity is an ongoing concern, especially in homes near the river where soil moisture is consistently elevated. Odorous house ants are a spring and summer staple, emerging from the mulched foundation plantings and wooded property edges that are characteristic of Oradell's residential neighborhoods. Carpenter ants nest in moisture-damaged wood in homes near the river corridor, and ground-nesting yellow jackets appear regularly in the borough's larger yards from July through September.
