West Nyack Pest Control

West Nyack straddles two very different pest environments. Along the Route 59 and Route 303 commercial corridor near Palisades Center, restaurant waste and commercial dumpsters sustain active rodent populations year-round. Mice and rats from the commercial zone regularly migrate into adjacent residential neighborhoods — particularly the older colonials and split-levels along Old Schoolhouse Road, Hunt Road, and Strawtown Road in the fall. Pavement ants, odorous house ants, and occasional German cockroach infestations are also common in this commercial-to-residential transition zone.

Away from the mall, West Nyack's wooded residential streets reveal a second pest challenge. Properties along Strawtown Road, Hunt Road, and the neighborhoods bordering Clarkstown's preserved open spaces experience significant tick pressure from April through November as white-tailed deer move through the wooded lot edges. Stink bugs begin infiltrating homes along the wooded residential streets in late August, finding entry through attic vents and window frames before settling into wall voids for the winter. Mosquitoes breed in standing water and drainage swales in low-lying backyards off Route 303, and squirrels and raccoons regularly invade attic spaces in homes with large overhanging trees throughout the spring.
